The County Assemblies Forum (CAF), led by Chief Executive Officer Ms. Lona Losem, paid a courtesy call to Kidogo Early Years, a pioneering social enterprise committed to delivering quality, affordable Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) in East Africa’s low-income communities.
The engagement aimed to explore collaborative opportunities between CAF and Kidogo to scale sustainable childcare models and strengthen ECCE-related legislation within county governments.
Discussions focused on aligning efforts to support counties in developing robust, community-driven frameworks for early childhood development. Key areas of discussion included:
-
Policy Integration – Supporting county governments in incorporating ECCE into policy formulation, planning, and budgeting processes.
-
Women’s Empowerment – Leveraging Kidogo’s unique model to empower local women as community caregivers and entrepreneurs.
-
Quality Standards – Enhancing standards and regulatory frameworks for childcare services, particularly in informal settlements.
-
Inclusive Learning Spaces – Promoting safe, inclusive, and nurturing environments that enable all children to thrive from an early age.
CAF commended Kidogo’s innovative, impact-driven approach and underscored the value of public-private partnerships in strengthening the foundation of devolution. By prioritizing early childhood care and education, counties can build more resilient, inclusive, and prosperous communities.
CAF reaffirmed its commitment to working with strategic partners like Kidogo to ensure that county assemblies place early childhood development at the center of their legislative agenda. Together, we can ensure that every child—regardless of background—has a strong start in life.
