County Assembly Speakers
This is a chapter under the CAF constitution that is comprised of the County Assembly Speakers across the 47 County Governments.
During the 3rd session of the County Assemblies, only Six (6) speakers made it to the second term in the county Assemblies, one of the six speakers is serving for the 3rd trm as a speaker in the County Assembly.
Only one female speaker was elected to serve as a speaker in the current County Assembly Leadership.
During the second session County Assemblies, the number of speakers interms of gender was three (3) female speakers out of 47 County Assembly Speakers.
Only 12 speakers were re elected to serve for the 2nd term. the 12 who served for the second term only one (1) vied for re-elected to the 3rd Session Assembly.
This was the first County Assembly Speakers in office since the inception of devolution.
Only two female speakers were elected for this position in the 1st session Assemblies.

County Assembly Speaker is provided for in Article 178 of the Kenyan Constitution 2010;
(1) Each county assembly shall have a speaker elected by the county assembly from among persons who are not members of the assembly.
(2) A sitting of the county assembly shall be presided over by--
(a) the speaker of the assembly; or
(b) in the absence of the speaker, another member of the assembly elected by the assembly.
(3) Parliament shall enact legislation providing for the election and removal from office of speakers of the county assemblies.
