CAF Youth Legislators Conference 2026 Opens, Putting Youth Voices at the Centre of Devolved Governance

The wait is over as young legislators and leaders from across the country converge in Nairobi for the CAF Youth Legislators Conference 2026, bringing youth voices to the centre of conversations on leadership, participation, representation and decision-making.

Held from 20th–21st August 2026, the conference is themed “YOUTH LEADING CHANGE: STRENGTHENING YOUTH VOICES IN DEVOLVED GOVERNANCE.” The two-day gathering provides a platform for young leaders to engage, exchange ideas and explore practical ways of enhancing the meaningful participation of young people in Kenya’s devolved governance system.

The conference seeks to foster dialogue around the opportunities and challenges facing young leaders while strengthening their capacity to contribute to legislative and governance processes. It also provides an opportunity for participants to share experiences, build networks and identify pathways through which youth can play a greater role in shaping decisions that affect their communities and the country at large.

With young people forming a significant part of Kenya’s population, strengthening their participation in governance remains critical to building inclusive, responsive and sustainable institutions. The conference therefore provides a space for youth leaders to not only discuss the future of governance but also actively contribute to shaping it.

Through the conference, the County Assemblies Forum continues to champion stronger youth voices within devolved governance and create platforms that empower young legislators to lead change in their communities and beyond.
