The County Assemblies Forum (CAF) marked a significant milestone with the official swearing-in of its newly elected Executive Committee members, in a ceremony held on 30th May 2025 at Eka Hotel, Nairobi. The event brought together Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) from all 47 counties, symbolizing unity and renewed purpose as CAF continues to serve as the collective voice of county legislatures in Kenya.
In his inaugural remarks, CAF Chairperson Hon. Seth Kamanza affirmed the leadership’s commitment to transparency, integrity, and stronger institutional grounding. He emphasized the Forum’s critical role in shaping the future of devolution through responsive policy engagement and legislative oversight. “Today, I embark on a journey to ensure this Forum remains pivotal in shaping devolution and influencing national discourse. We must lead with integrity and remain focused on our mandate,” said Hon. Kamanza after taking the oath of office.
CAF Secretary General, Hon. Chege Mwaura, echoed the sentiment, reaffirming the Forum’s openness to public accountability and engagement. He noted that CAF has consistently championed better budgeting processes, MCA welfare, and more robust intergovernmental relations. “CAF welcomes transparency. We remain committed to upholding accountability, even as we call on the Senate and National Assembly to support our efforts to strengthen devolution,” Hon. Mwaura said.
While the Forum acknowledges recent concerns raised by oversight institutions, the new leadership is focused on constructive engagement and legislative reforms to enhance governance mechanisms within the institution. Steps are underway to anchor CAF in law and improve operational frameworks, including procurement and financial management practices. As the new team takes office, there is renewed optimism that the Forum will continue to play a central role in advancing the goals of devolution, promoting good governance, and serving as a key platform for legislative capacity-building across the country.
