The County Assemblies Forum (CAF) convened successful consultative meeting with the Speakers Chapter. The meeting, held to deliberate on the County Assemblies’ budget ceilings for the Fiscal Year 2024/25 and various pertinent issues, marked a significant milestone in fostering collaboration and addressing challenges within our devolved governance system.
One of the primary objectives of the meeting was to deliberate on the budget ceilings for the upcoming fiscal year. As custodians of public resources at the county level, it is imperative that budgetary allocations are adequate to facilitate the County Assemblies to effectively and efficiently perform their roles of representation, law making and oversight. The County Assemblies Speakers endeavored to ensure that the budget allocated to County Assemblies reflect the priorities and aspirations of the citizens we serve.
The meeting also provided a forum to address various other pertinent issues facing county assemblies. From strengthening legislative oversight to promoting transparency and accountability in governance processes, the discussions encompassed a wide range of topics aimed at promoting good governance and enhancing service delivery at the grassroots level.
As we reflect on the outcomes of the consultative meeting, it is evident that meaningful progress has been made in addressing the challenges and opportunities within our devolved governance system. However, much work remains to be done, and it is only through sustained collaboration and collective action that we can fully realize the transformative potential of devolution.
In conclusion, the County Assemblies Forum wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to the Speakers Chapter and all participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions during the consultative meeting.
